ABOUT RECIRCLE
What is Recircle?
Recircle is a circular recycling technology and system. We offer a free service that collects packaging for recycling, so your waste doesn’t go to waste. Because what we use once, we can use again.
Why does it matter?
Preventing Waste - Make the choice for your used packaging to be Recircled, and not become waste, be down-cycled, or sent offshore.
Create Jobs - Every item returned creates work for the good people at Will and Able who create jobs for Kiwi with disabilities.
Keep Materials Local - Items will be turned into new packaging, here in New Zealand.
How to use our Smart Bins
Our process is straightforward. You drop your used bottles and containers from our partners’ product ranges into one of our collection bins, and we make sure they’re properly recycled and given new life right here in New Zealand.
1. At the smart bin, scan the barcode on your packaging
2. Wait for the green light, then drop it in the bin!

Life After Empty.
Our Why
New Zealand underperforms when it comes to recycling. But, in order to do better as a nation, we need better systems in place to allow for recycling to be easy.
1. Significant Portion of Waste Sent to Landfill
New Zealand generates over 17 million tonnes of waste annually, with approximately 12.59 million tonnes—about 72%—ending up in landfills. This indicates that a substantial majority of waste is not being recycled or composted, underscoring the limitations of current waste management practices. (Ministry for the Environment).
2. Low National Recycling Rate
The country's recycling rate stands at around 28%, meaning that less than a third of materials are recycled, while the remainder is disposed of in landfills. This rate is comparatively low, especially when contrasted with nations like Germany, Austria, and Wales, which achieve recycling rates exceeding 50%. (RNZ).
3. Export of Plastic Waste to Developing Nations
Between January 2018 and March 2021, New Zealand exported over 98,000 tonnes of plastic waste to various countries, including developing nations such as Indonesia and Malaysia. This practice raises concerns about the environmental and ethical implications of offloading waste to countries that may lack adequate recycling infrastructure. (Greenpeace).
Our Partners
Recircle was started by Anew in partnership with Will & Able, because they were both conscious of what they put into the world and how their products should have a life beyond the first use.
It’s the responsibility of businesses to make it easy for customers to recycle their products. That’s why together, we started Recircle.
